A fast-growing vines which may grow along the ground, however does best when when given support such as a trellis. Young gourds can be eaten and is a common delicacy in Asia..
If growing for a luffa sponges, allow the fruits to turn from green to yellow on the vine. Fruits will lose quite a bit of moisture and become light. It is unedible at this stage.
To harvest, peel off the thin outer skin and remove seeds.
These natural sponges for bathing and household cleaning as an alternative to store bought sponges.

Growing conditions;
This vine is adaptable to most good garden soils but prefers rich soil with a generous amount of water in full sun.
